48th Sanremo Round Table on Current Issues of IHL: “From Peace to War and Back: Putting IHL at the Center.”

The International Institute of Humanitarian Law (IIHL), in close cooperation with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), is pleased to announce the upcoming 48th Sanremo Round Table on Current Issues of International Humanitarian Law, titled “From Peace to War and Back: Putting IHL at the Center”.

The annual flagship event of the Institute will gather high-level experts, academics, practitioners, and government representatives to discuss this year the possible role of international humanitarian law in preventing, limiting the effects, and negotiating the end of armed conflicts. The Round Table will indeed explore how compliance with IHL can contribute to peace before, during, and after armed conflict.

This year’s conference will be held in hybrid format, both in Sanremo, at Villa Ormond, and online, thereby ensuring broad participation from across the globe.

In anticipation of the event, a press conference will be organized in collaboration with the Municipality of Sanremo on 4 September 2025 at 11:30, at the Town Hall – Sala degli Specchi.
