On Monday 16 February, the President of the International Institute of Humanitarian Law, Lt. Gen. (rtd) Giorgio Battisti, and the Secretary General, Mr Gian Luca Beruto, met in Rome with the Ambassador of Switzerland, discussing ongoing and future cooperation with the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs.
The dialogue focused in particular on collaboration in the framework of the Institute’s flagship event, the Sanremo Round Table, as well as on the Ambassador’s upcoming visit to the Institute in Sanremo in the month of April. Furthermore, the possibility of a joint event to be convened in Rome during the second half of 2026 was also discussed.
Following the meeting, the President and the Secretary General visited the Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Rome, where they met with H.E. Prince Faisal bin Sattam bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Italy. The meeting aimed to further consolidate the institutional dialogue and cooperation with Saudi Arabian institutions and organizations, building in particular on the Memorandum of Understanding signed by the Institute last May in Riyadh with the Standing Committee of International Humanitarian Law.
