The International Institute of Humanitarian Law was saddened to learn of the passing away after a long illness of Professor Françoise Hampson over the Easter weekend.
Francoise was for many years a leading teacher here in the Villa Ormond.No-one who had the privilege of hearing Francoise speak will forget her. Her passion for IHL was inspirational. She spoke with deep insight and a searching intelligence from a strong foundation of both academic brilliance and practical field experience.
More than that, she was the epitome of the ‘Spirit of Sanremo;’ friendly and engaging with everyone and great fun to be with. She was a pillar of the IHL community and will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
