On October 29, Lt. General (Ret.) Giorgio Battisti, President of the Sanremo Institute, and Secretary-General Gian Luca Beruto visited the Permanent Mission of Italy to the United Nations in Geneva, hosted by Ambassador Vincenzo Grassi.
In his speech at the opening of the 34th International Conference of the Red Cross and Red Crescent, Ambassador Grassi commended the Sanremo Institute’s efforts in promoting International Humanitarian Law (IHL) and related provisions.
The visit aimed to strengthen collaboration between the Sanremo Institute, the Mission, and the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to further disseminate IHL principles and rules in response to current global challenges. Discussions focused on enhancing joint efforts in training and outreach to advance IHL principles, particularly in crisis situations.
This visit finally underscored the Mission’s commitment to advancing IHL and reinforced the Institute’s role as a key institution in capacity-building for its implementation.
