Application of International Humanitarian Law and International Human Rights Law in an Armed Conflict

The International and Comparative Law Research Center – a non-profit organization based in Moscow and active in the field of research on different issues of international and comparative law – is organizing, in collaboration with the Institute, a workshop on “Application of International Humanitarian Law and International Human Rights Law in an Armed Conflict”.

The workshop will take place in Sanremo at the Grand Hotel Londra on 4 October 2019 with the main objective of further exploring the complex relationship between international humanitarian law (IHL) and human rights in the context of armed conflicts.

This issue has been the subject of international courts on several occasions and the practice, far from being harmonized, presents questions that may arise when both IHL and human rights are jointly applied.
Eminent world-renowned experts will focus on these delicate and complex issues by examining, in particular, the practice of the European Court of Human Rights and the possible extension of the European Convention on Human Rights provisions to cover situations of armed conflict.
