The proceedings of the last Sanremo Round Table “Deprivation of liberty and armed conflicts: exploring realities and remedies” will be officially presented on Friday 12 July 2019 at the UN Library in Geneva from 11.30 to 13.00.
The book, which collects the contributions made at the Round Table held in Sanremo from 6 to 8 September 2018 by renowned international experts and practitioners in the field of IHL, focuses on some fundamental issues of international humanitarian law, such as the definition and the existence of a right to detain under customary international law, detention by non-state actors and armed groups, as well as the distinction between the law applicable to detainees in international armed conflict (IAC) and non-international armed conflict (NIAC).
The event, organized in collaboration with the UN Library in Geneva within the framework of the Institute’s Summer Course on IHL, will provide an interesting discussion with contributions from some of the authors.
Venue @ the Library Events Room (B.135), Palais des Nations, building B, first floor.
