INTERNATIONAL HUMAN RIGHTS LAW TRAINING COURSE

International Human Rights Law Training Course

24 – 29 November 2025, Sanremo (Italy)

The course will, through presentations and practical exercises, cover the general background of the development of International Human Rights Law before examining in detail the main international and regional human rights systems. It will focus on responsibility and accountability of police and gendarmerie personnel in the performance of their duties. It will specifically cover the use of force, the use of weapons and other police powers, detention and conditions of detention from a human rights perspective. It will also examine the Code of Conduct for Law Enforcement Officials and how this can assist compliance with IHRL. This initial course is tailored for Police and Gendarmerie advisers from the ICRC FAS department.

Participation quota amounts to €750 for ICRC Delegates, €1.000 for No-ICRC. It must be remitted before the start of the course by bank transfer or, at the latest, upon arrival in cash or Euro currency cheque. Visa and/or Mastercard are also accepted either on the website (click here) or at the Institute.

The course will be conducted in English and reasonable language proficiency is required. There will not be simultaneous translation.

The Official Certificate will be released to participants who attend the course in full after the final session and completion of the course evaluation.
