The International Institute of Humanitarian Law (IIHL) is honoured to officially announce that the President of the Italian Republic, Sergio Mattarella, will be visiting the Institute on the occasion of the 47th Sanremo Round Table on Current Issues of International Humanitarian Law, taking place on September 12-13 at Villa Ormond.
President Mattarella will deliver his institutional message at the Opening Ceremony of the flagship event of the Institute, setting the tone for the event’s discussions. Following his speech, 6 panels featuring over 30 distinguished academics, practitioners, and high-ranking military officers will discuss the evolution of International Humanitarian Law (IHL) in the context of two major anniversaries: the 160th anniversary of the first Geneva Convention of 1864 and the 75th anniversary of the 1949 Geneva Conventions.
The President’s participation highlights the importance of the topics under discussion and reaffirms the commitment of both the Institute and Italy to the promotion and protection of the Geneva Conventions and IHL principles.
Registration for both in-person and online attendance is still open. For more information and to reserve your seat, visit the Round Table web page now!
